Historical Context

Edward Winslow participated in some of North America's most dramatic historical moments: the American Revolution, the Loyalist diaspora, and the reorganization of British North America. While his efforts to shape the course of events failed as often as they succeeded, his letters open a unique window on the history of the North Atlantic world in the eighteenth century and record his central role in laying the foundations for the colony of New Brunswick founded in 1784.
